IMMERSION

To immerse is to submerge within, to be completely engulfed by.

 

Founded in 2022, Immersion is an exploration into the praxis of sonic meditation and spiritual healing and wellness. Wellness services were provided by a collective of artist who have come to be known as founding members of the Otherhood Collective. Immersion is intimate, occult, and nourishing. 

EMERSION

Emersion is the process or state of emerging after being in water and the reappearing of a celestial body after its eclipse or occultation.

 

 Founded in 2024, Emersion as a performance piece explores the convergence of 2 celestial bodies; one of water and one of mineral. A storm is begot that transforms and transfigures. Emersion releases that which must be shed. Allowing that which must become through movement, space, scent, sound, and form. Emersion seeks to allow for personal and collective transformation

TRANSITING THE CELESTIAL (Upcoming)

Released in 2025 Transiting the Celestial is a reciprocal rest based practice situated for ancestral lands, queer diasporic people, and spiritual technologies nestled into an eponymous album designed to traverse themes of grief, reclamation, and resilience.

Najee-Zaid’s debut album ‘Transiting the Celestial’ encompasses their lived experiences and artistry through music within the Experimental, Jazz, and Ambient genres of which they are currently associated. With a focus on steeping in the now, Najee-Zaid aims to express a range of experiences from grief to liberation through a Queer Afro-Diasporic Spiritual lens in the form of a music album. Recorded in part (Oct. 2024) at the inimitable Elastic Arts Foundation in Chicago Najee-Zaid remounts the live version of this project to pay homage to the experimental performance legacy of Chicago.
